There is no denying that Vail Resorts' Epic Pass is one heck of a good deal. The pass allows unrestricted, unlimited access to all 6 Vail Resorts-owned mountains - Vail, Beaver Creek, Arapahoe Basin, Breckenridge, Keystone and Heavenly - and is only $619 (as of 9/8/10). We can't say it enough - this is a great deal! You can purchase or renew your pass right online at http://www.snow.com/epicpass/home.aspx.

Using the phrase "fun-filled" would be an understatement when referring to Labor Day Weekend in Vail. Fortunately, it is possible to hit all of the fantastic events, you just might be a little tired afterwards. Not to worry - that's what the comfy beds and hot tubs at Lodge at Lionshead are for. The coffee will help get you going, too!

Days are still sunny and gorgeous, but mornings are getting cooler up here in the mountains. Fall is definitely in the air! Fall is one of my favorite seasons in Vail, but is bittersweet because it means winter is getting that much closer. When you live in a climate where up to 8 months of the year can be winter, you hold on to warmer weather as long as you can!

The Vail Nature Center is one of those hidden gems that Vail visitors and locals sometimes forget about. The Nature Center has a beautiful seven-acre facility along Gore Creek right across from Ford Amphitheatre where they host Camp Eco Fun, Art in Nature classes, Fly Fishing/ Stream Ecology, a bi-weekly Hiking Program, Photo Safaris and these great family-friendly programs:

In honor of the lovely ladies hiking group staying with us this week, we thought we would share some of our favorite area hikes. We have a lot of hikers on our staff (some are even volunteer search & rescue members) who love to get out and explore the backcountry. Among all of us, we've probably hiked almost every trail in the area and then some (we do go off trail occasionally).
Here is a list of our favorites - on trail, of course - in no particular order:

Here's another great family activity to check out. Each Friday, the Park Hyatt in Beaver Creek hosts "Fridays at the Park" which features fun, free activities for the whole family. There's live music, fly fishing demonstrations, giveaways and more. Each week also includes a different theme, focusing on various topics such as safety, “green” practices, outdoor education, and other topics.

Vail's renowned International Dance Festival begins tonight with king of tap, Savion Glover, and jazz legend Eddie Palmieri performing at Ford Amphitheatre. Based on Glover's two sold-out performances last year, this show should be well-attended!

The dog days of summer have arrived in Vail. Now - to give you some perspective here - this means temps are in the high 80s and sometimes low 90s. We locals think this is hot. Our lodging guests in town from Texas, the East coast or the Midwest, think it's balmy in comparison to their hot and humid locales. It's all a matter of perspective, isn't it? Regardless, everyone wants to stay cool in the summertime and here are some of our favorite ways to do it in Vail:
