PEAK NEWS: Winter Edition 2006-07 Season
Vail Mountain opens this week on November 17th. After big storms the end of September, the last two weekends in October and this week snow levels are off to a great start!
Our staff has been busy gearing up for the winter season over the past several weeks. Fall cleans are complete, reservations are up and we've hired new staff. Here are more details along with other Lodge at Lionshead updates:
New Employees
Please join us in welcoming Amy Roden, Bryan Dee and Ildefonso Balderrama to the PRSI family. Amy hails from New England and moved to the Valley in 2005. She worked with us this summer, so some of you may have already met her. Bryan, originally from Indiana, moved to Vail one month ago. Both he and Amy will serve as our concierge team this winter. Please feel free to contact them regarding any of your guest service needs. Our final addition is Ildelfonso - who goes by "Junior" - as Houseman. His hobbies include gold panning and 4-wheeling. Please stop by to say "hello" to all of our new staff members the next time you are in town.
Lodge at Lionshead Renovation Update
We received final Town of Vail Design and Review Board approval in October for our Phase I & II major improvement project. Jeff, your Board of Managers, architects, engineers, consultants and contractors are all working diligently on the project planning details in preparation for a mid-December Town of Vail submittal for building permit. All systems are go for our April 9, 2007 start date! Stay tuned for more details and click here to view a new page on our website touting the upcoming property revitalization.
2007 Summer Lodging Alternatives
As you know, the Phase I & II buildings will be closed during our renovation next summer. If you own a unit in one of these buildings and would still like to visit Vail during this time, we have set up preferred partnerships for owners and return guests at a few properties in the area. We will also have a limited number of three bedroom condos available in the Phase III building for rental. Please contact Leslie at lrobertson@vail.net for more information.

NEWS FROM AROUND THE VAIL VALLEY
Vail Ranked #1 Ski Resort in North America
For the 14th time since the poll began in 1988, SKI Magazine readers awarded the coveted #1 spot to Vail.
Vail Resorts Relocates to Broomfield
Over the summer, Vail Resorts' corporate headquarters moved from Avon to Broomfield, CO - located between Boulder and Denver. Rob Katz, CEO, cited lower costs and better positioning as a publicly traded corporation as reasons for the move.
Billion Dollar Renewal Updates
Vail's renewal continues. At The Arrabelle in Lionshead, dry-in, interior framing and door & window installation are in progress. Opening date is projected to be November 2007. In the Village, Vail Plaza Club & Hotel is nearing completion and anticipates opening mid-winter. One Willow Bridge will be completed this fall. Construction on Lodge Chalets and the Vail Mountain Club, both part of Vail's Front Door Project, started this past May. For more information, please visit www.renewvail.com.
Crossroads/ Solaris
It required a change of guard on the Vail Town Council as well as a citizen-petitioned special election this past July, but the Crossroads/ Solaris redevelopment project has finally been approved to continue with the design review process. Construction could begin as early as June 2007. For more information, go to www.SolarisVail.com.
Lionshead Parking Structure Redevelopment
Town of Vail is formally reviewing development concepts for the Lionshead Parking Structure. As you may remember, Vail citizens approved a lodging tax to fund the building of a conference center on that site in 2002. Last fall, a request for additional funding due to increased budget costs was defeated by voters and shut down the project. Now, the town is looking for a private partner to redevelop the site to possibly include new parking, hotel rooms, employee housing, retail space and community facilities.
