Awesome Vail Summer Camps…You’ll Wish You Were Still a Kid

There is no shortage of kid-friendly activities in Vail during the summer. Some of our favorite activities are the wide variety of summer camps available in the area. The staples are Camp Vail and Pre-Kamp Vail, but that’s just a start. Here’s a look at the best options out there:

Camp Vail/ Pre-Kamp Vail

Camp Vail is for kids 5-12 years old. Campers choose from a wide selection of daily activities including sports, art, science or special outings. Those can include outdoor adventures, swimming, bowling and martial arts. Each Friday there is something new scheduled!

Pre-Kamp Vail is for kids 30 months to 5 years (not in kindergarten) and is structured around a weekly theme with art projects and games. Campers also enjoy activities like hiking, gondola rides, environmental education, outdoor games and local tours. Pre-Kamp Vail goes out on an adventure – some big, some small – every day!

Extreme Camp Vail

For kids ages 8-13 years old, this adventous camp takes place on Fridays throughout July. It includes trips to Elitch Gardens Amusement Park in Denver, Water World in Denver, a whitewater rafting trip, day of river tubing, trip to Glenwood Caverns and a day of rock climbing!

Eco Camp Vail

Two days a week, campers spend half a day at the Nature Center where naturalists from the Walking Mountains Science Center lead a variety of activities. Gore Creek, nearby trails and wildflower meadows serve as an exciting natural lab for experiments, games, and lively exploration. The rest of the day kids do nature-oriented arts, crafts and activities to complement each day’s theme.

Walking Mountains Science Center

Their Summer Science Camps allow children to experience the wild places of the Eagle Valley while nurturing their connection to the natural world through daily exploration of local trails. They even offer some overnight camps at one of the 10th Mountain Division huts!

For K-1st graders, there are Earth Explorers Camps. There is a new theme for each week of camp. Activities are different each day, but include hiking, crafts, and cool experiments!

Summer Science camps start with 1st/ 2nd graders, and are every two years from there. The 3rd/4th grade through 7th/8th grade campers have the option of overnight camps in addition to weekly day camps.
