Since we’ve been on the subject of booking Vail lodging reservations, I thought I’d give you some more helpful tips. Lodge at Lionshead has a variety of styles and sizes of condos available for vacation rental. There is no “one size fits all” solution. The best condo for you and your group is the one that offers most or all of the things that are important to you. For some, that might be cost. For others, it might be platinum finishes, mountain view or a larger condo so that everyone can have separate sleeping accommodations. When you call our property, we try to find out what your parameters are and then match you with the best options.
If you have been on the “Accommodations” page on our website, you’ve seen all of our unit types available for lodging here in Vail. What you may not know are the differences in layouts or options for singles or couples (there are 3). Here are some in depth details for you to help you navigate the choices:
Two bedroom condos have an apartment or townhome layout. Both are great for families or adult ski groups. All have amenities such as full kitchen, living room with fireplace, balcony, dining area and two baths. The difference is in the layout. The apartment style condos offer a hotel-like interior entry and one-level layout. Families with small kids or elderly grandparents do well in these units due to the absence of stairs and elevator access in the building from the lobby or underground parking garage. Two bedroom townhome style condos offer a little more space in the living areas and a split-level layout. Bedrooms and baths are on the ground level and the living/dining/kitchen areas are upstairs. If you like more space, don’t mind stairs (no elevators here) and want to add more separation between the sleeping quarters and living area, these are a great fit.
Ever wanted to know the difference between our three bedroom and penthouse units? Both have three bedrooms, living room, fireplace, kitchen, balcony and washer/dryer. The main difference is that the penthouse is a top-floor condo – hence it’s name. It also has an additional den off of the main living room and a fourth bathroom. That den has a sleeper sofa and can be completely closed off from the living area, so that the living area can be used as your living area and not the place where your extra guest decides to crash.
Finally, here is a look at the 3 choices for singles and couples. Studios are one-room efficiency units with kitchenettes and Queen Murphy beds. Prices are low in comparison to our larger condos, so they are a great value for folks wanting our fantastic location but minimal (budget) accommodations. The next step up is a studio loft condo. About twice the size of our studios, they offer full kitchens, beautiful finishes, two ¾ baths, a Queen Murphy bed in the living area and queen bed in the enclosed loft. They are also on the value end of our pricing. Small families with 1-2 children, single friends looking for separate sleeping areas or couples looking for less expensive accommodations do well in these. If couples want more romantic amenities like a fireplace or creek/mountain view (most have these), upgrading to a one bedroom condo would be the way to go. They are 200 square feet larger than the studio lofts in the bedroom and living areas, and do have that cozy fireplace to add to the ambiance. They are a great splurge if you don’t need to stick to the budget end of the spectrum.
As with any of our condo types, our reservations staff knows the condos and property intimately. They can help with bedding configurations or layouts that work best for your particular group and try to keep everything within your budget if possible. Give us a call. We’d be happy to help!
