Days are still sunny and gorgeous, but mornings are getting cooler up here in the mountains. Fall is definitely in the air! Fall is one of my favorite seasons in Vail, but is bittersweet because it means winter is getting that much closer. When you live in a climate where up to 8 months of the year can be winter, you hold on to warmer weather as long as you can!
Fall not only has beautiful weather and the golden leaves of the aspen trees, but also has some great events. Some are tried and true and others are up and coming. Here are few that Lodge at Lionshead staffers plan on checking out this fall:
Gourmet on Gore – Labor Day Weekend
With prices starting at $2 per tasting, this open-air extravaganza of food, wine, beer and spirits offers gourmet, upscale fare at bargain prices. Taking place in the heart of Vail Village, this popular event will pair world-class wines, beers and spirits with the food from the best restaurants throughout the Vail Valley. Enjoy live music and lively people watching, too!
Lionshead & Vail Oktoberfests – Sept 10-12 & Sept 17-19
An oom pah celebration done Vail-style, with live bands, dancing, keg bowling, brat eating contests and Beck’s beer! Both weekends feature the same format and both are just plain ol’ fun. It’s hard not to enjoy this grand German tradition.
NEW Vail Restaurant Month – Sept 20 – Oct 17
VRM is brand new this year and a product of savvy event promoters who have handled a few of Vail’s more familiar festivals like Taste of Vail and Vail Film Festival. It is four weeks of one-of-a-kind events, activities and special offers! Expect star chefs, wine & beer tastings, health/wellness/spa packages, romantic getaways, family fun, seminars, chef demos, recipes, family cooking experiences, fashion trunk shows, art gallery receptions, celebrity author readings & book signings, outdoor adventures, and more.
