Looking for a great family activity to do during your vacation in Vail? Look no further than Saturday Afternoon Club. Taking place right over in Lionshead each Saturday, it features all sorts of fun FREE activities plus a different theme each week. Regular activities include kids’ arts and crafts, face painting, hula hoops, water balloon toss, pizza tossing competition, a gigantic inflatable obstacle course, Kids’ Discovery Zone, and Raptor Rendezvous. Raptor Rendezvous is part of the Denver-based Raptor Education Program which showcases birds of prey such as eagles, hawks, falcons and owls. It is a very cool way to up close and personal with these magnificent birds. Just please don’t bring your dogs!
The theme this week is “Denver Museum of Nature and Science”. DMNS will be bringing up hands on exhibits including geological specimens, Colorado fossils, ceremonial masks, musical instruments from African cultures and more. Kids can learn what it’s like to be an geologist, paleontologist, anthropologist or zoologist.
The entire event goes from 3-6pm with the Raptor Rendezvous running from 3-5pm. Again, this is free and most of the shops and restaurants will offer sales and specials for the adults in your group. Check it out!
