Vail America Days and More This July 4th Weekend

The first sign it is almost Fourth of July in Vail? Eager locals and visitors lined up at Ford Amphitheatre this morning to purchase tickets for reserved seats to the Patriotic Concert on Sunday at 2pm. I went over at 8:30am and there were probably 75 people in line and that did not include the true early birds (my friend, Lee, for one) who were there shortly after 6am this morning. Reserved seating sold out before I made it to the window; however, I did learn a thing or two about how to potentially purchase “extras” on Sunday. If all else fails, lawn seating is free and open on a first come, first-served basis the afternoon of the concert.

There are a lot of other great events on the agenda this weekend in celebration of our country’s independence. There is the Vail Lacrosse Shootout, La Sportiva Vail Hill Climb, Vail Library Book Sale & Bake Sale, Vail Farmers’ Market and Vail Skating Club’s “Party in the USA” at Dobson Ice Arena. Vail hosts fireworks at Golden Peak on Sunday night at 9:45pm and the ever-popular Vail America Days Parade takes place from 10am-12pm that morning. This is a true small-town, big fun kind of parade and my absolute favorite event year after year. The parade route goes right in front of our property so we’ve got the perfect vantage point!

The mother of all fireworks displays takes place on July 3rd in Avon – The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa Salute to the USA. It is THE largest fireworks display in the Colorado Rockies and saying that they are spectacular would be an understatement. Everything takes places at Nottingham Park and Lake. You can arrive just in time for the fireworks at 9:45pm or go early and enjoy the free concert, food vendors and the Family Zone fun area. Parking is tricky, so please ask us for advice on how to do it right.

There’s also Bravo! concerts, Natalie Cole at the Vilar Center, FAC at Eagle’s Nest and more of the “usual” stuff to do in the Vail Valley this weekend. Plus, Beaver Creek and Eagle have their own fireworks, concerts and special events. Whatever you do this weekend, we hope that you and your family have a wonderful and safe Fourth of July!
