Vail Lifts and Scenic Gondola: What to Know

Visiting During the Winter

Vail’s chairlifts and the Eagle Bahn Gondola spend the winter months trekking skiers and snowboarders up the mountain. There are two lifts directly in Lionshead Village that make it easy to get to any of the ski area’s 317 trails. The Born Free Express Lift will take you to where the Born Free Trail and the Cub’s Way Trail intersect near Main Vail Spur C.

The Eagle Bahn Gondola takes you even farther to Eagle’s Nest. From there, you can access the Pride Express Lift, the Little Eagle Lift, the Lightning Coyote Lift, and the Thunder Cat Carpet Lift. You’ll also have easy access to the Game Trail, the Eagle’s Nest Ridge Trail, the Cub’s Way Trail, the Coyote Crossing Trail, and the Practice Parkway Trail. Many of the trails connect to others and can take you all around the mountain. The Eagle Bahn Gondola also offers scenic rides during the winter months!

Visiting During the Summer

Scenic gondola rides are available daily throughout the summer months in Vail. The Eagle Bahn Gondola typically opens for the summer season in June. Then, it runs Friday through Sunday in September and closes for the season in October. Gondola One in Vail Village east of Lionshead follows the same schedule. It’s the perfect way to take in as much of the beautiful surrounding mountains as you possibly can! When you get to the top of the ride, dining options are available along with other activities provided by Epic Discovery.
