I guess you could say I’ve been inspired. Rain, hail, sunshine, rain, hail, sunshine…that’s what yesterday looked like. Today, we’ve been socked in all morning. While rain may not be the most preferable weather, there are some positives – less fire danger, gorgeous flowers, cooler temps and an excuse to do something different. Here are some ideas for rainy day activities:
Spa Day – Why not get pampered? You deserve it! Vail has many wonderful spas to choose from – Vail Mountain Lodge & Spa, Aria Spa, the Sonnenalp Spa, new Rock Resorts Spa at The Arrabelle and new Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa. You already feel relaxed, don’t you?
Tour the Colorado Ski Museum – great displays showcasing 130 years of skiing history, the 10th Mountain Division, Colorado Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame and more
Enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of Vail’s world-class restaurants – Why not linger? There’s no reason to rush off for that hike or bike ride. Have another glass of wine. Get dessert. You can burn it off when the sun comes back out.
Go shopping for a great piece of art – Vail and Beaver Creek have numerous art galleries with incredible paintings, sculptures, sketches and more.
Tour Glenwood Caverns – It’s an hour drive, but well worth it. It won’t be raining in the caves and kids love this!
Visit the Vail Library – Not only do they have books, magazines and a cozy lounge area with fireplace in which to read. They also offer a great library of DVDs available for check-out. Movie night!
We could go on, but would rather hear your suggestions. What’s your favorite rainy day activity in Vail?
